.THE BIG CHANT 2019 IS HERE!

Brought to your school by Musica Kirklees and the Huddersfield Town Football Club

We had a great response to the first Big Chant competition in 2018 and we know your school can compose a chant worth cheering about in 2019!

For The Big Chant, Musica Kirklees staff work with existing Whole Class Ensemble Teaching pupils to create new football chants as a method of composition.  The aim is to develop ideas with support from professional educators and to engage children in creative composition whilst supporting their local football team.  Any school in Kirklees can also take part – entries are accepted from any KS2 class.

The planning and resources will be provided by Musica Kirklees staff and you can download Lesson Plans here (Word document).

Chants can be up to 50 words long and can be rapped (non pitched) or sung to an existing or new melody.

Your class video should be sent to [email protected] (if the file is too big to send via email, please email the link through Dropbox, WeTransfer or similar).

The deadline for entries has now passed.

There will be:

One winner from each class will be put forward for the Kirklees-wide competition – this should be decided by the class with guidance from staff

One overall winner in each year group (years 3 – 6) for all of Kirklees

One overall winner from all entries

Everyone who takes part will receive a certificate of participation (available to download)

Each winning class will receive:

A school visit from Terry the Terrier and a football signed by the Huddersfield Town first team

Winning chant printed in a match day programme and on the clappers

The overall winner will receive:

A school visit from a first team player and Terry the Terrier

A signed football

A performance of your chant from Terrier Brass

The chant printed in a match day programme and on the clappers

Tickets to attend the Town Foundation Match in April 2019

GOOD LUCK EVERYONE!
