Welcome to Musica Youth Jazz Ensemble

Musica Youth Jazz (MYJ) was set up in response to the increasing demand for a top quality jazz ensemble in Kirklees. The aim was to build on the success of the big bands and other jazz groups in the music centres and schools throughout the area. 

MYJ enjoys performing a wide range of Big Band music, from Latin and rock, jazz to classic swing and vocal charts. They are an award winning ensemble, performing regularly at national festivals including the Great North Big Band Festival, and the National Festival of Music for Youth in Birmingham and London.

The group is led by Mr Kingham and meet on Tuesdays (term time) 7-8.30pm at Richard Steinitz Building, University of Huddersfield. MYJ welcomes players Grade 5+ who apply through an audition.
