VACANCY: Percussion Teacher
STARTING DATE: JANUARY 2026
Are you passionate about music education and excited by the opportunity to help young students engage in music? We’re looking for an inspiring and skilled Percussion Teacher to join our vibrant team and bring percussion to life through engaging lessons that spark curiosity and confidence.
For this role, you will need to be proficient in drum kit and auxiliary percussion instruments and be able to commit to 6 hours a week of dedicated one-to-one, small-group and Whole Class Instrumental Teaching sessions in a variety of Kirklees school settings, predominantly in the Colne Valley area, across a 33-week school-term schedule. This will include Friday afternoon/evening Music Centre.
Additionally, we offer dedicated hours to support recruitment and timetable development, giving you the opportunity to expand your teaching portfolio and grow the role into a full time equivalent position.

JOB OPPORTUNITY/ROLE: Percussion Teacher
LOCATION: Kirklees, West Yorkshire
RATE OF PAY: £29.12 per hour + pension contributions
You will require an Enhanced DBS and you will need to be able to transport yourself between different schools during each working day
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Delivering high-quality drum kit and percussion lessons to students of all ages and skill levels
- Plan effective lessons
- Inspire students to develop a love for music and a lifelong passion for playing percussion
- Preparing students for performances, competitions and exams
- Following administration and reporting procedures
REQUIREMENTS:
- Proven experience teaching percussion to students of varying abilities
- Proficiency in music theory and percussion skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Enthusiasm for working with children and adults
- Flexibility to travel to different schools within Kirklees
- A commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion
We have opportunities for additional paid recruitment and are looking for individuals who can effectively recruit students for individual lessons, small group lessons, or Whole Class Instrumental Teaching sessions in schools. We need someone who can inspire and motivate students to participate in music and help them achieve their personal best.
