VACANCY: Percussion Teacher
STARTING DATE: September 2025
Are you passionate about music education? Do you have the skill and enthusiasm to inspire students to unlock their musical potential? We’re seeking a dedicated and talented Percussion Teacher to join our team and deliver engaging one-to-one, small-group and Whole Class Instrumental Teaching lessons in schools across Kirklees.
The current commitment includes 4.5 hours dedicated to percussion instruction, with teaching taking place over a 33-week period during the school term. You will be required to work at one of our Music Centres on Friday afternoons/evenings, deliver individual/small group tuition in schools as well as the possibility of delivering Whole Class Instrumental Teaching, which may include African drumming, samba or hand chimes.
There is also potential to increase your working hours (as detailed below). Teaching takes place over 33 weeks during term time.

JOB OPPORTUNITY/ROLE: Percussion Teacher
LOCATION: Kirklees, West Yorkshire
RATE OF PAY: £29.12 per hour + pension contributions
You will require an Enhanced DBS and you will need to be able to transport yourself between different schools during each working day
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Delivering high-quality percussion lessons to students of all ages and skill levels.
- Plan effective lessons
- Inspire students to develop a love for music and a lifelong passion for playing percussion.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Proven experience teaching percussion to students of varying abilities.
- Proficiency in music theory and percussion skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Enthusiasm for working with children and adults.
- Flexibility to travel to different schools within Kirklees.
Our organisation is very interested in teachers who can recruit pupils for individual or small group lessons, or for Whole Class Instrumental Teaching sessions in schools – this would expand your hours within your control. For new teachers, we provide up to 15 hours of paid recruitment per year (as directed by your line manager).
