SPRING TERM 2020 | | | | Happy New Year. Thanks to everyone who joined us at our Christmas Concert and contributed to such a fantastic evening. Special thanks to those who donated prizes and helped on the night, we really appreciate your support. It was a real celebration of musical talent in our area!
We’re looking forward to another exciting year of music making and a quieter term after all the autumn term changes: Miss Edwards she began her maternity leave and we welcomed Mr Morgan to lead Junior and Intermediate Guitars in her absence; we also welcomed Mrs Worboys-Hodgson and Mrs Harding who are taking Junior and Intermediate Strings.
Congratulations again to our Youth Choir who performed at the Music for Youth School Prom at the Royal Albert Hall in November along with Musica Youth Strings; it was a brilliant day to remember and an achievement to be proud of.

Musica Kirklees Area Manager - Mirfield | | | Spring Soirées
We’re having two Spring Soirées to end the spring term. Both will be held in St Paul’s Church, off Newgate, in Mirfield town centre. All players will perform at one of the two events below and have their normal Musica Mirfield rehearsal at MFG on the other date. - 7pm Friday, March 27, Soirée 1: Junior and Intermediate Strings, Junior and Intermediate Guitars, the Friday Nightingales and piano soloists will all take part (all other groups rehearse as normal at MFG)
- 7pm, Friday, April 3, Soirée 2: All other ensembles, including the Youth Choir, will take part in Soirée 2 (rehearsal as normal for Junior and Intermediate Strings, Junior and Intermediate Guitars and Friday Nightingales at MFG)

Our AGM of Friends of Musica Mirfield will be taking place later this term (date to be confirmed). All parents/carers and adult players at Musica Mirfield are welcome. We need your ideas on fundraising and how we can raise awareness of the great music making going on in Mirfield. If you can spare half an hour please come along to the meeting, share your ideas and get involved! | | | Student council
A good mix of players representing our ensembles met to discuss ideas about our centre last year. Apologies for not giving feedback but there were some really interesting ideas and some suggestions have already been implemented. Cleckheaton Library Coffee Morning
Our Junior and Intermediate Strings will be performing at Cleckheaton Library. Come along and have a cup of tea and some cake, browse for books and enjoy the music. | | | Saturday, February 8
MYO 20 Year Reunion Concert
This concert from Musica Youth Orchestra in Huddersfield Town Hall promises to be a wonderful event for players past and present so do come along and enjoy it with us. Tickets are available from the town hall box office. | | | Saturday and Sunday, March 14 - 15
Music for Youth Regional Festival
The annual festival is taking place at Colne Valley High School. Although we haven’t got any of our Mirfield groups taking part this year it’s always a great weekend with the chance to see and hear lots of local talent from our other Musica Kirklees centres plus other community groups too. | | | Saturday, March 21
Swingband Performance
Swingband will be performing at Lindley Methodist Church in concert with Marsh Ladies Choir. It’s always an enjoyable event. | | | Friday, March 27, 7pm
