Young Sounds (YS) - Supporting the Next Generation of Musicians
We’re proud to partner with the Young Sounds UK, a vital initiative helping aspiring young musicians from low-income families to access the resources they need to grow and thrive. Through this support, talented individuals facing financial barriers can receive funding for instruments, lessons, music centre membership and performance opportunities. It’s an investment in creativity, community, and the future of music — and we’re honoured to play a part.
We currently have 23 young musicians on the scheme, who have access to free music lessons, music centre, a personal bursary, performance and workshop opportunities plus mentoring sessions with a former Young Sounds pupil.
Here's how Young Sounds pupils and their families are already benefitting, in their own words:
- ‘I wanted to let you know that my child and I had a wonderful time at the BBC Philharmonic concert. I’ve never been to anything like that before and it was breathtaking. Thank you so much for the opportunity’ - parent of a YS pupil
- ‘I want music to be part of my future and my job’ - YS pupil
- ‘I want to do this EVERY SATURDAY!’ - YS pupil after attending their first Get Together event
- ‘Thank you for this privilege for my child’ - YS parent when being offered a place on the programme
