MUSICA KIRKLEES NEWSLETTER

SPRING TERM 2020
In our newsletters it is always nice to share all the exciting opportunities and achievements that our pupils and their parents/carers enjoy.  The work we do together in lessons and ensembles is at the heart of Musica Kirklees, and equally important are the relationships we have with our Hub partners.

As Lead Organisation for the Kirklees Music Eduation Hub we're priviledged to work with some amazing organisations.  These range from volunteer run community groups to large festivals who all share our mission to make music education accessible to everyone.

This term we've worked with the team at the Mrs Sunderland Music Festival (a familiar name to anyone who has grown up in Kirklees!) to present workshops for adults and schools as well as a 'Music for the Brain' tea dance.  Preparations are also already underway with our partners at the Kirklees Primary Music Festival for a week of singing and playing at Huddersfield Town Hall in June.

Our centres have been busy too getting ready for the Music for Youth Regional Festival, Spring Concerts and 'Big Sings'.

When you are practising your singing or playing at home, it's wonderful to think that you are at the centre of a network of individuals who, like you, are contributing towards making Kirklees a happy and musical place to live.  We couldn't do it without you!

Best wishes for the term ahead,
Thom Meredith, Principal - Musica Kirklees
Happy Birthday Musica Youth Orchestra (MYO)!
MYO turns 20 this year, and a suitably 'big bash' birthday celebration reunited 20 years of percussion, string, woodwind and brass players for one night only at Huddersfield Town Hall.  Rehearsal time was minimal (one afternoon!) and the alumni were joined by the current MYO players for a concert to be remembered.  A huge thank you to everyone who attended and made the day so special.
