Welcome to Musica African Drummers
Musica African Drummers goes under the name "Mmere dane", meaning "time changes".
The group is open to adults from beginners to advanced musicians. All instruments are provided and we try to perform at least 4 or 5 times a year at various events. These have included the Marsden Jazz Festival, the Mrs Sunderland Music Festival various school fetes and charity galas and even a wedding! We also perform in more formal concerts in venues such as Huddersfield and Dewsbury town halls.
Our repertoire stems mainly from West Africa but does have a tendency to wander as the mood takes us.
