The Big Chant 2018

In partnership with the Huddersfield Town Foundation, Musica Kirklees teachers and class teachers have been working with Whole Class Ensemble Tuition pupils to create new football chants as a method of composition. The aim was to develop ideas with support from professional educators and to engage children in creative composition whilst supporting their local football team.

We like to say a huge 'THANK YOU' to The Huddersfield Town Foundation and all the teachers, schools and pupils who took part and created some very catchy compositions!

Over 2300 pupils got involved with the composition process in 61 schools across Kirklees. The adjudicators enjoyed receiving all the entries which were made either as videos, audio files or written pieces  (You can download a more detailed evaluation document from the bottom of this webpage.)

The 2018 winners are:

  • Year 3 - Norristhorpe J & I School - Class 3T
  • Year 4 - Lepton C of E School - year 4
  • Year 5 - Holme J & I School - year 5
  • Year 6 - Hepworth J & I School - year 6 - OVERALL WINNER
  • Special Recognition Award - Scholes Village Primary School for 'The Captain Booth Song'

Each year group winner will receive a visit from Captain Booth with the Championship Trophy and their photo and chant on the club website and printed in the matchday programme and on the clappers for the HTFC vs Watford on April 14.

The overall winner will receive a school visit from a First Team player, a photo to feature in the matchday programme (April 14 - HTFC vs Watford) and on the club website, a signed football from the Huddersfield Town First Team and their chant printed on matchday clappers.
