The Big Chant 2018
- Key Stage Two Musical Chant Composition Competition.
- Create new chants and to develop musical ideas.
- A partnership between Huddersfield Town Foundation and Musica Kirklees.
Musica Kirklees staff will work with existing Whole Class Ensemble Tuition pupils to create new football chants as a method of composition. The aim is to develop ideas with support from professional educators and to engage children in creative composition whilst supporting their local football team.
All schools in Kirklees may also extend the competition to any class in KS2
The planning and resources will be provided by Musica Kirklees staff.
The entries must be submitted by the 28th February 2018.
- Chants can be up to 50 words long
- Chants can be rapped (non pitched) or sung to an existing or new melody
How to enter:
Please send your class’s selected entry (1 entry per class) to email@example.com either as written text, audio or video by 28th February. This selection process could be the choice of the teacher or voted for by the pupils.
Staff at Musica Kirklees and Huddersfield Town Foundation will then select a winner from each year group (in KS2) and then an overall winner
One, Kirklees wide year group winner from years 3, 4, 5 and 6 will receive a school visit from Captain Booth and the Championship Trophy. They will also have their photo taken and winning chant published on the HTFC and Musica Kirklees websites/social media and the chant printed on match day clappers (date to be advised).
One overall winner will receive a school visit from a First Team player, a photo opportunity with the player which will feature in a match day programme, HTFC and Musica Kirklees websites and social media. They will also win a football signed by the Huddersfield Town First Team for the school and the chant will also be printed onto the match day clappers.
All winners will be notified through school in early March and details of which match the programme and clappers production will be featured.
