VACANCY: Upper Strings Teacher

Musica Kirklees is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Upper Strings Teacher (violin and viola) to join our successful and supportive team. We currently have 11.5 hours of teaching per week available, primarily in schools across the Shelley area of Kirklees. This includes leading string ensembles on Saturday mornings (8:15am–12:00pm) at Musica Shelley (based at Shelley College).
There is significant potential to increase your hours through pupil recruitment, which could lead to additional small group/individual lessons and Whole Class Insrumental Teaching. New teachers are eligible for 15 hours of paid recruitment time as directed by your line manager.
We’re looking for someone who:
- Is passionate about widening access to music for all children.
- Demonstrates a strong commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusion.
- Has a proven track record of excellence in music education.
- Can inspire and motivate young people to reach their full musical potential.
Pay & Conditions:
- £29.12 per contact hour (hourly paid).
- Teachers’ Pension Scheme available.
- Leading string groups on a Saturday morning at Musica Shelley from 8.15am – 12.00pm
- Teaching hours can be arranged across two or more weekdays, with a third day available for recruitment activities.
Additional Information: A full driving licence and access to transport are desirable as the teaching element of the role is based in several different schools.
